The Turk and Hound team are Carl and Karen Buxton and Matt Terry (or nicknamed Aff the Hound!)
We (Karen and Carl) have owner managed the Turks Head a freehouse pub in Alcester for 14 years, there have been other pubs over the years but we have settled in Alcester where we also live and our kids go to school. We are very hands on and are responsible for the day to day running of the business where we currently employ 15 staff. We previously lived and worked in London and have backgrounds of sales and marketing and recruitment so all useful transferable skills!
Aff’s back ground has always been in hospitality and has worked at the Turks for the last 5 years where he worked his way up to Bar Manager. He has brought an enthusiasm for real ales to the Turks and has ensured our continued endorsement in the Good Beer Guide.
Carl is a fully qualified and experienced Head Chef, he has the Level 3 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles and Professional Cookery – which includes food safety, food hygiene, food health etc.
As you can see between us we have bags of experience in cellar management, customer service, event organising , food prep and storage and marketing. We are all also licensees and have level 2 WSET (wine society) training.
The Turks has gone from strength to strength and is a very busy popular pub in the town. We are well known for our smoked foods, triple cooked chips and the quality of our meats as we use Aubrey Allen Master Butcher. Our reputation for great food and drinks lead us into outside catering for our customers and ‘Turks and Hound’ has grown from there.
